
Dr. Onur Nacakgedigi is a general dentist with advanced postgraduate training and a multidisciplinary background in comprehensive dentistry, public health, research, and community-based care. He completed a two-year Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) residency at the University of Rochester, where he received extensive clinical training in restorative dentistry, endodontics, oral surgery, treatment planning, and comprehensive patient care. He also completed a fellowship in Community Dentistry at the University of Rochester and earned a master’s degree, further expanding his expertise in oral health, research, and community-focused care.
Before focusing on clinical dentistry, Dr. Nacakgedigi served as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Public Health Sciences at the University of California, Davis. Throughout his career, he has helped develop and lead oral health initiatives serving diverse communities in the United States and internationally. These experiences have shaped his belief that exceptional dentistry begins with understanding the person behind the smile.
Dr. Nacakgedigi takes a thoughtful, individualized approach to patient care. He values listening to his patients, understanding their goals and concerns, and developing comprehensive treatment plans designed to support both their immediate dental needs and long-term oral health. His goal is to help every patient feel informed, comfortable, and confident in their care.
Beyond the dental office, Dr. Nacakgedigi is a TEDx speaker, researcher, educator, and community leader with a longstanding commitment to public service and improving access to care in underserved communities. He is also a multi-instrumentalist musician and recording artist with published albums. His diverse experiences across healthcare, academia, leadership, and the arts continue to influence his compassionate, patient-centered approach to dentistry and his commitment to making a meaningful impact in the communities he serves.
