Dr. Katarina Alem, DMD, MS, is a general dentist committed to providing comprehensive, patient-centered care while ensuring every patient feels comfortable, informed, and supported throughout their dental journey. A Miami native and proud Hispanic dentist, Dr. Alem is bilingual in English and Spanish, allowing her to connect with and care for a diverse patient population. She believes that trust, communication, and compassion are just as important as clinical excellence.
Dr. Alem earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Biology, with minors in Chemistry and Exercise Physiology, from the University of Miami in 2018. During her time there, she served as captain of the university cheerleading team and was selected as a Civic Scholar, where she developed an oral health curriculum for individuals who are blind or visually impaired. Her dedication to community service earned her the Award of Excellence in Civic Engagement. She went on to earn a Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences from Barry University before receiving her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in 2025.
Throughout her training, Dr. Alem actively sought opportunities to serve underserved communities. She participated in a dental mission trip to the Dominican Republic through the Hispanic Dental Association and completed an externship at Dimock Community Health Center, where she provided comprehensive care for immigrant, veteran, and underserved patient populations. These experiences strengthened her commitment to making high-quality dental care accessible to those who need it most.
Following dental school, Dr. Alem completed a one-year Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery internship at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children, where she received advanced training in surgical extractions, biopsies, frenectomies, facial trauma, hospital-based dental emergencies, and the management of medically complex and special needs patients.
Today, Dr. Alem combines her advanced surgical training with comprehensivegeneral dentistry, with special interests in oral surgery, full-mouth rehabilitation, dentures, and cosmetic dentistry. She is passionate about helping patients restore not only the health and function of their smiles but also the confidence that comes with them. Whether a patient is visiting for routine preventive care or a more complex procedure, her goal remains the same: to provide exceptional, personalized treatment in an environment where every patient feels heard, respected, and supported.
